ISLA - a world of opportunitie
|
ISLA - Instituto Superior de Línguas e Administração is the oldest private institute of higher education in Portugal. Since it was founded in 1962 it has played an important role in the dissemination of culture and in educating a group of citizens that have asserted themselves in Portuguese and European society.
The principal of ISLA-Lisboa is assisted by several directors. The institute is also governed by the Scientific Council and Pedagogical Advisory Council, which operate according to their own regulations.

Socrates and Erasmus
ISLA joined the Erasmus Programme in the academic year of 1988/99. Since then it has shown substantial growth in terms of the number of student exchanges between ISLA and different European universities under the Socrates/Erasmus Programme, especially in English, French and German-speaking countries. This can be attributed in part to the performance of ISLA’s students at their host universities. For example, a student from our Translation Course won the “Erasmus Student 90” Prize awarded by the European Commission in Brussels to the highest-achieving foreign student.
The following universities currently number among our partners:
-
- University of National and World Economy (Sofia - Bulgaria)
- European Business School – EBS (France)
- Université Blaise Pascal Clermont Ferrand II (France)
- Université Jean Moulin (Lyon III) (France)
- Université de Toulouse Le Mirail (Toulouse II) (France)
- Universität Hildesheim (Germany)
- Fachhochschule Köln (Germany)
- Universität Leipzig (Germany)
- Ionio Panepistimio (Greece)
- Università Degli Studi di Firenze (Italy)
- Università di Bologna (Italy)
- Universidad de Leon (Spain)
- Universidad A Coruña (Spain)
- University of Salford (United Kingdom)
- West University of Timisoara (Romania)
Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris
ISLA has been recognised as an examination centre for the certificates and diplomas issued by the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris, thanks to its vast experience in the field of language teaching. Students taking a degree as Business Management Assistants can obtain the Certificat Pratique de Français Commercial et Economique issued by the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris.
